WELCOME TO
THE PILATES LOFT
WHERE THE CLIENT ALWAYS COMES FIRST

"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness." - Joseph Pilates

Welcome

At the Pilates Loft, I am dedicated to listening, understanding, and meeting the needs and goals of each client on their personal path of health and wellness. This is accomplished by guiding discovery to finding physical awareness. Utilizing this knowledge we work to build more efficient and optimal movement patterns for everyday life, rehabilitation, and high-performance athletic training. Through the use of concentrated movements focused on, form and efficiency for a full range of motion; breathing patterns; core & stabilization; control and flow.

About Pilates

Pilates is an exercise method that incorporates utilizing the body's own weight and spring resistances to tone, strengthen, and stretch the body. The exercises integrate mind and body. Pilates improves posture, coordination, stamina, and movement. It can be prescriptive, preventative, and high-performance training. Pilates is based on six different principles: breath, concentration, stabilization, control, flow or efficiency of movement, and full range movement.

The Pilates exercise method emphasizes the use of breath, musculoskeletal balance, and spinal alignment to restore and sustain dynamic strength, balance, and health to the body. A well-functioning mind and body starts from the inside out. This translates to a stronger more efficient and highly organized body that will support you in all that you do.

Pilates as conditioning will transform and rebalance the muscular and nervous system into calmer, longer, stronger, and more relaxed systems. It is great for people of all ages and abilities, sedentary lifestyles to professional athletes will all yield excellent results. Movements are initiated from the core and are corrective in nature.

Philosophy

TRANSFORM YOUR CORE AT
THE PILATES LOFT

"You will feel better in 10 sessions, look better in 20 sessions, and have a completely new body in 30 sessions." - Joseph Pilates

The Pilates Loft Philosophy

The philosophy here at the Pilates Loft is rooted in the belief that awareness precedes action. During a Pilates session, you will be continuously prompted to concentrate deeply on your muscles as well as on your breath, the contraction of your muscles, and the quality of your movements. Pilates is a safe form of exercise for individuals with osteoporosis, arthritis, and spinal conditions. Each session is tailored to the individual's specific needs and limitations as they begin to explore Pilates.

What Pilates Can Do For You

Joseph Pilates referred to his system as The Art of Contrology, Return to Life. This title epitomizes the very nature of the Pilates method. Through concentrated and creative effort you too will reap the myriad benefits that this unique method of conditioning has to offer, reawakening your body through movement and your mind through conscious thought. The combination results in the extra plus of the Pilates method: a revitalization of spirit that is a crucial factor in maintaining good health and sound mind and body. *Excerpt from the Pilates Body by Brook Siler.

The benefits of Pilates (and yoga) are no secret. However, if not approached with sensitivity and care, the incredible benefits innate in these practices disappear. one of the most important ingredients is the translation of information from teacher to student.

Pilates is a discipline of mind and emotion, not just physically. It is a discipline of intention, which formulates my goals. The emphasis at the Pilates Loft is on the individual needs of each client and the goal is to facilitate change in one client, one body at a time.

- What Our Clients Say -

Nancy checks in with her clients at the start of each session to identify anything that may require her attention. And, she customizes each session meeting her clients where they are at that point in time. In working with Nancy over the years, she has made modifications for (non-workout related) injuries I had sustained, as well as a pregnancy, while still maximizing the benefits of Pilates. She also used these opportunities to educate herself further on technique to accommodate my limitations during those times.

Nancy is a compassionate soul who seeks to support her clientele by matching their energy and bringing them ever-closer to their full potential - body, mind, and soul.

- Jenn B., 42

I do love these Pilates classes! The sessions are challenging and relating at the same time. The variety keeps my muscles and my brain working - it's never boring! From day 1 until many, many years later, I learn something new each class. Thanks so much, Nancy, for your expertise, passion, and willingness to teach us!

- Joan D., 65

Nancy is an intuitive Pialtes instructor who listens carefully to what I need at each lesson. She teaches both basic and advanced forms, tailoring her style to the individual's level. Her classes are both fun and challenging, and I look forward to them each week. I feel truly lucky to be working with her.

- Jen R., 45

Practicing Pilates was not my intention when I purchased class sessions at a local Yoga studio more than five years ago. By mere chance, I found myself on a reformer in a group Pilates class with Nancy. And instantly I was hooked. Nancy's instinctive teaching practices quickly allowed me to appreciate how Pilates works the body, in a way unlike any other discipline I had ever been exposed to. I began to not only feel my body strengthen as a whole, but view it as a whole. I was expanding, both physically and mentally.

Over the years, as iv'e grown with my practice, Nancy has grown with me as my instructor. Her ability to tailor sessions to fit the needs of one, or multiple students at a time makes every session unique and challenging. For anyone considering Pilates instruction, you will be beyond pleased with the thoughtful and inspiring teaching methods Nancy shares with her students. She takes time to personally connect, wich makes her an amazing mentor.
